Last summer, our family got addicted to an awesome sport. BMX racing. Teddy joined the ABA and competed about 8 times. He placed 2nd his first time out and won the remaining 7 races. He needed 8 wins to advance from Novice to Intermediate, and on June 1, he got his last win competing against an intermediate racer. We were so excited for him and eager to see what racing would be like for him at this new level. WELL....we found out that it is going to be TOUGH, but TOTALLY EXCITING! He raced well, against older kids who have been racing longer. He didn't quite make it to the Main, but did his best and was a very gracious competitor. After the race, he wanted to get right out on the track and practice. Todd gave him some pointers as to what he saw other boys doing and Teddy was eager to try it out. My friend and photographer captured this photo of him. This had to have been about his 20th time around the track, but he loves to "get air!". I don't want to come across too proud, but I must say that I am proud, not only of Teddy's talent, but of his spirit and attitude.
By the way, Hank said before the race, "I just CAN'T WAIT to watch you race Teddy!" Hank is such a good little rider, but doesn't enjoy competition. He likes to go out on practice nights and ride the track, but loves to support Teddy on race nights.
If you'd ever like to see a race, they race on Fridays at 7:00pm sharp at Green Lake BMX. It is right behind the ball fields in Spicer. Look for the signs.
